Talladega Nights: the FedEx Recap
There is nothing like a Talledega night and this past weekend was nothing short of impeccable. The GEICO 500 had an amazing kickoff Friday October 12th, with fantastic tailgating parties all over the Talladega Super Speedway camp grounds. Every year fans from all over the country travel to Lincoln, Alabama to celebrate and watch the Semi-Annual NASCAR race that takes place in the spring and fall season. Over 100 companies and vendors begin setup earlier in the week to give fans the ultimate Talladega Tailgating Experience! Companies like Target, Ford, The US Air Force, Coca Cola, and many more who are official sponsors have some on best marketing activation to engage with consumer. However, this year we have to pleasure to work song side with FedEx as they rolled out their new website feature “FedEx delivery manager”.
This is by far on of the most creative campaigns we have executed within experiential marketing industry. FedEx along with marketing expert MKTG came together in order to promote this new feature that allows consumer to redirect their packages to a nearby Wal-Greens or FedEx office in the event they’re not home! All weekend the official FedEx Tailgating street team visited several camp sites around the speedway providing attendee with Free Ice, portable charger, and koozies or as the southerns say “soda huggies”. One thing about doing annual event, the aim is to increase You consumer engagement as well as overall presence each year. Therefore, what better way to spread the word about this free delivery manager feature other than to delivery free 10 lbs bags of ice to campers enjoying this heated race weekend. This wonderful weekend couldn't get any better or at least that's what we thought. Denny Hamlin, driver of the # 11 FedEx car surprised camper as he paraded the in-field Saturday afternoon giving away free ice cream sandwiches and bars. It was nothing short of amazing, seeing fans overwhelmed to tears as they interacted with one of their favorite drivers. Thanks to MKGT for allowing us to play a role in this exciting weekends.
